Sharing my work

This week’s assignment and the last assignment for this class is to write a post on how I would like my audience to share my blog’s material. It would be greatly appreciated if my work is that I am given credit to if it is shared. That means a link directly to my blog post. Most of my posts are recipes that I myself have created for fun. I am sure others have thought about it too. But if any way that my blog post / recipe has inspired anyone to make a new recipe please let me know! It is good to know that my work has inspired anyone else to create something new out of it. I cook for fun and this is a hobby so I am not saying that invented these recipes because I am sure there are many similar ones out there. Bottom line, please give me credit and continue to comment on my work!

Thank you for stopping by the dolce vita blog 🙂

“Taken” Phone Call Scene

For this assignment, I had to recreate a scene from a movie using GoAnimate. At first, I was dreading this assignment because when I opened an account and saw the format of the themes and characters I turned away from it because it looked complicated. I also had a hard time trying to find a movie that I wanted to do an animation of. At last, I remembered my favorite line from the movie Taken. I have watched all of the Taken movies and I am fan of them. So I decided to use that. From that point on, I decided to play around with everything. I had a hard time figuring out what character to use since none of them looked like Liam Neeson because I didn’t know I can customize it. When I finally figure that out, everything became easy and fun to me.

I used the scene when Liam Neeson was on the phone with the kidnappers. He says, “I don’t know who you are. I don’t know what you want. If you are looking for ransom, I can tell you I don’t have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let my daughter go now, that’ll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don’t, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you.” I couldn’t use the whole scene because I was only allowed 20 seconds of voice recording. I tried using text to speech but it was too monotoned and it sounded funny. So I used the voice recording option and played the scene in the background. I am happy with my work because I got to use my favorite part of a movie, learned how to use GoAnimate, and finally got it done! HERE is the product 🙂

Brussels, Avos, and Tuna

image

The other day I was trying to figure out a new recipe for lunch. I wanted protein and fiber in it but with flavor and no dressing. I wanted something quick and healthy. This recipe is sort of simple but not as simple as the other recipes I posted. As you can see by now, I love avocados. Yes. This recipe has avocados also. Here are the ingredients:

1/2 Avocado
1/2 can of Tuna
10 Brussel Sprouts
1/2 tbspn Coconut Oil
2 cloves of Garlic
1 Scallion
Black Pepper
Salt

Prepare all your vegetables: Cut avocados into cubes. Cut off the stems of the brussel sprouts and cut them into quarters. Chop/mince garlic. Slice up the scallions.

Heat your pan on medium. When it is hot,  add the coconut oil. Then add garlic until they turn golden yellow. Add the brussel sprouts. Add salt and pepper. Stir fry. Should take about 4-5 minutes until they’re cooked. Lastly add the scallions.  Stir fry it and turn off heat.

Prepare dish: transfer the brussel sprouts into a bowl. Add avocados and tuna (can mix them together beforehand). You can add more flavoring to it if needed.

Enjoy!

Hydration Hydration!

Here is a QR code to the website that I want to share with my readers. I am constantly looking for ways to keep my skin healthy. Three years ago when I first entered college, I began breaking out a lot on my face due to stress, lack of sleep, and poor diet. It took me almost a year to fix my skin and whatever I did, it worked and from that time on I made sure to keep my face looking healthy and clear all the time with some of the things I followed. I came across this article recently on the right way to drink water that I think is very useful if you want to drink water as start to having a healthy complexion. One of my tips to keeping a healthy complexion is to always stay hydrated since we are mostly made up of water. But the standard saying that everyone should be drinking 8 cups of water doesn’t apply to everyone. It depends on your weight. In the article, it will tell you how to calculate how much water you should intake and myths that are proven to be non-applicable. Every person is different therefore, not every method or tips work for everyone but drinking an adequate and right amount of water each day is a start to staying healthy. So keep drinking water…the right way!

Youre Doing it Wrong: The Right Way to Drink W ater

Happy Listening !

For this assignment, I was supposed to find a song, movie, or picture that relates to my blog from the Creative Commons Search Engine and use information from the Fair Use Checklist to explain why it is okay to use it.

I chose the song called Beach by Qrion from SoundCloud. The music is created by Qrion and the beat of the song is very up-lifting. It relates to my blog because it is about aiming to have a happy lifestyle and because the song is so upbeat, it can lighten someone’s day when her or she comes across it. The title of the song is Beach and it reminds me vacation and being free spirited so it is definitely relatable to my blog!

As for the Fair Use Checklist, the song is used for the classroom or for Teaching because this is an assignment for Strategic Presentation. The use of this song is for nonprofit purposes and is used in my post including my own comments. Through the Creative Commons Search Engine, the song was linked to Soundcloud, which was where I found it, and is shared to the public. Therefore, the song posted on my blog favors fair use.

Happy listening !

Being Good at PhotoShop

For this assignment, we are supposed to find a meme that symbolizes my feeling or represents the theme of my blog. These two memes relate directly to how I feel about some of the things on my blog. When I saw these two memes, I automatically thought about my previous assignment on making a header for the blog using photo editing skills (which I obviously don’t have).

This might be beneficial to my blog because they are really funny, especially the second one. I laughed out loud when I saw it and seeing the other meme about photoshop made me think about my experience with photoshop. In a way, I am mocking my own work but I think it is okay since I am still in the process of learning how to use different digital media tools. I believe it can help my blog get someone’s attention. When they see the meme they might wonder how my first time using two pictures to create something looks like and might end up scrolling through my blog just to see “how bad it is”. Also, the second meme is originated by Steve Buscemeyes, a photoshop meme featuring images of people, typically celebrities, with American actor Steve Buscemi’s characteristic eyes substituted for their own.

Promoting My Blog

The best way to promote my blog would be Facebook. My entire network of friends is on Facebook. It is probably the best and fastest way to share my blog with a link and description. It is also free and anyone can see it on their NewsFeed especially during “prime time.” I have never done research on when is the prime time to post something where majority of my friends are on Facebook can see; but from experience, prime time is probably on a weekday around 7pm to 9pm. I am also part of several Facebook groups where I am connected to different communities of people from across the nation and even to Canada where I can share my link also. I would also ask my friends and family (they are probably the best and most reliable people to help me promote) to share my blog and ask their friends to check out my blog.

Another way to promote my blog would be to use Instagram. I am on Instagram more often than I am on Facebook because I like to scroll through pictures and look up hashtags. If I was to promote on Instagram, the best way is to provide a picture that captivates the theme of my blog. I will also provide a link and description of my blog. In the description, I would ask my friends to regram the post if possible. I will also provide many hashtags in the description so if anyone looks up a particular hashtag the chances that they will see my picture will be higher. Hopefully they will click on it. Another way is to also like other people’s Instagram pictures that are related to my blog (food, health, and life) and hopefully they will notice my likes and check out my Instagram (that links to my blog). Publicizing my blog would help me gain viewers and possibly followers. With more followers I can gain more comments that can help me know what I can improve on.
